Resource Nurse; travel to Juarez Mexico every
summer with a medical missions team; partner with local hispanic doctors providing care to the poor through
mobile medical clinics
Professional Info: Bachelor of Science in Nursing University of Kentucky
Languages: Medical Spanish
About Lisa: "My nursing career focus has always been in pediatrics giving direct
patient care. In my trauma role, I have had more autonomy to develop
educational tools and projects to reach our growing hispanic population
in Cincinnati Ohio and concurrently develop/acquire tools that would
also be useful in Juarez. I have travelled to Juarez every summer since 2005 with a medical
missions team serving the extremely poor areas where medical care is not
available. The construction component of our team is building a year
around campus to provide a permanent medical clinic and shops for local
people to market their goods. There will also be dormitories for short
term medical, dental and construction teams. A soccer field, covered
basketball court, dining hall and worship center which will provide
opportunities to include the local community in various activities.
Because Juarez is a border sister city with El Paso Texas it is ideal
for first time missionaries. My daughter and I look forward to this trip
as our vacation every year. Eventually I would like to visit two or
three times a year and also continue with my training to be available
for disaster relief in third world countries."
